The young man known to the world as Ian F. Mason was born on September 15th . Not much is known about his parents, except that for some reason they didn't want him. It is rumored at the least that they were in their mid to late teens. One of his parents left him on the doorsteps of a hospital. Since there was no identifying information on the child at the time, the nurse that found him took it upon herself to at least give him a first name, Ian. The nurse, named Linda took a strong interest in the child's well-being. She already was raising her own 5 year old boy named Paul, but she felt horrible for Ian wondering why and how someone could abandon him. She ended up adopting Ian and he was welcomed into their family. It was around this time that Linda met what would be the next love of her life, a new resident doctor named Jacob Mason. They married about a year after they met and decided to raise Ian as their own, keeping the fact that he wasn't really theirs a secret. They always planned to tell him, but the boy was so happy growing up most of the time that they just never mentioned it. About 3 years after he was found and 2 years after they were married (when he was about 5 years old), Linda and Jacob would have a child of their own, a baby girl that they decided to name Irina.
After Irina was born, Jacob was offered a position at a Hospital in Memphis, TN. Ian's family moved to a suburb of Memphis, Bartlett. When they first moved into town there was a scare involving the young boy. Ian went missing for a couple of hours about a day before his 6th birthday. To this day, they don't know what really happened to him. When they found Ian, he was wandering in the woods about 20 miles from where they lived. He was unable to remember what happened to him. Unknown to everyone Ian had a small binding link carved into the back of his ear. On the surface, it looked like a birthmark and the people that saw it just assumed that's what it was.
Ian grew up and graduated from his high school in Bartlett in the top percentile of his class, earning a full scholarship into Duke University in North Carolina. His older brother Paul had grown up and ended up joining the army while Irina is currently in junior high school. Paul along with his parents remembers how Ian came to be with them, but because of his love for his brother he like the rest of the family keeps that fact a secret. Irina has never been told that Ian was adopted so as far as she knows Ian is her brother by blood. [REDACTED]
When Ian went missing at 5, unaware to his family it was because of dark and demonic forces. Ian for some reason and by unknown forces had a demon implanted inside him, a demon named Furtur. The “birthmark” placed on Ian was to bind Furtur to his host so he couldn't escape for some reason. Even though Ian had a demon placed inside of him shortly before his 6th birthday, it is not his first encounter with them. Sometime when Ian was a baby, a demon (possibly Azazel) somehow fed him some of his blood like several other children around the world. It is more than likely that Furtur's possession of Ian has something to do with the demon, though the specifics are unknown at this time .
Either way, recently Ian has felt that there is more to himself. There have also been times, events growing up that sometimes seem murky or like a memory. Recently, Ian has graduated from high school and had plans to attend Duke University to eventually become a theology teacher. He has always wanted to become a teacher, unaware that some of these decisions have been influenced by the other personality that used to lay dormant within him. Ian is also unaware that there are demons out there, and that these demons may have an interest in him. He is also unaware of the existence of those that hunt them.
Before his “admission” into eichen house Ian had odd dreams about events unknown to him, some of these dreams involving a man with strange eyes and the perceived birthmark that he has on the back of his left ear. He also has dreams about his birth-parents, although he doesn't recognize them as his parents in these dreams. Ian previously had no idea whether the events and the things in his dreams are real, if demons even exist or that he has one inside of him even if he is feeling like there is someone around at times.
It was time for the new school year to start, and Ian wanted to drive himself to duke university. Sometime while driving he met another student that was on their way to duke university, a girl named.......... Ian couldn't remember her name. Ian met her in a bar somewhere inbetween Tennessee and North Carolina. He didn't understand why or how but sometime while they were talking he either passed out or blacked out. When he woke up, Ian was laying in a bed somewhere in a hotel room, next to a girl's dead body. It wasn't the girl he met and Ian had no idea what happened to her or how he ended up in the room. On the table next to the bed there was a small goblet that contained some blood and a knife. The blood was used in a communication spell to a higher demon.
As Ian went to the mirror in the bathroom and looked in it he saw that he had black eyes in the mirror. He could hear the voice of the demon inside him, saying that it wanted out, that it could get them out of there and find “her” before the police arrived and discovered the girl that it killed so it could contact hell. It gave Ian it's name, Furtur. Ian fought against Furtur's voice as much as he could as the police were on their way. He fought it in his mind until shortly after the police arrived, even going so far as to slit his own wrists in an effort to force the demon inside of him out (unaware that because of the binding spell[REDACTED] it wouldn't work.)
When Ian woke up he tried to tell the authorities what happened. He was in a hospital and he was in restraints. He told them the whole story (or what he remembered), but naturally they didn't believe him. It was after all an outrageous story about a demon that took him over and killed the girl. They also didn't believe him when he told them about the other student. After the police talked to him, they made the mistake of leaving him alone in a hospital room with a mirror. The last thing Ian remembered was fighting against the voice before he blacked out again.

Ian's other personality believes it is the demon Furtur. It's exact age is unknown. In legend he is well known among sages and seekers of forbidden knowledge. In addition to being a former Great Earl of hell, ruling over 29 legions of demons, dealing in forbidden knowledge and secrets is also a talent of his. This has earned the demon the title “Prince of Secrets.” Furtur was described as an eerily calm and rational demon lord, being more interested in conversation than combat. Sometimes when controlling Ian, it can actually bring about chaos through getting inside someone else's head by making them distrust others, most of the time by making someone think that the other has been lying about something.
Being a dealer of secrets and information that others don't want him to know, it is more than likely that Furtur (if it is real) has made a few enemies among the other demons and that even some of the angels want to find him and learn about what he knows. Although Furtur is somewhat a keeper of forbidden secrets, he is a compulsive liar. The only way to determine if he is being truthful is by somehow compelling him to enter a magic triangle. If anyone asks him a question while inside the triangle, no matter what he has to tell the truth.
Some of Furtur's (alleged) powers include the abilitiy to draw two people that have feelings for eachother closer together. Making them give in to whatever feelings that they may have about eachother. As a demon in his time he also had the power to create storms, tempests, thunder, lightning, and blasts. Although in his current form (most likely due to the binding link and of course currently being reduced to nothing more than a voice in an 18 year old's head) he no longer has any of these powers.
Furtur was also an instructor as a demon, liking to teach on secret and divine things, or at least teaching his subjects on things that he wanted them to know, sometimes bending the truth to suit his own needs whenever he needed to. Some of Furtur's traits seem to have imprinted on Ian, influencing his decision to focus on a theology major and one day teach in the field of the occult and folklore. Why Furtur is currently binded and dormant inside a human vessel has yet to be revealed, but his connection with whatever demon that is responsible for binding him probably has something to do with it. And the mysterious woman (possibly a demon) if she exists also is partly responsible for Furture's reemergence.

"Ian was at the mercy of Furtur's voice for his trip to Eichen House. When bringing him in the young 18 year old (even after having slit his own wrists and still somewhat weakened) put up a pretty good fight and managed to rough up the orderlies pretty good. Ian woke up with a clear head in the locked wing. He hasn't had any visits from his parents or siblings yet and he'd rather that they not come, partly because through knowledge of the voice inside his head he knows that his older brother and his parents have been lying to him his whole life, and he doesn't want the voice to influence him to hurt them.
Ian has requested that he has limited time (always under supervision) around mirrors due to the voice of the demon inside of him. Sometimes his reflection in them gives a face to his voice and seemingly makes it stronger in convincing him to do what it wants.
